Handicraft enterprise

In compliance with framework Law for handicrafts n. 443 of 8 August 1985 handicraft enterprises are directly run by the proprietor (a craftsman), their mission is to produce goods or supply services (excluding restaurants and bars) and they must not exceed the following size:- Enterprise with a not fully-automated production process: maximum 9 employees including apprentices (not more than 5). The maximum number of employees can be extended to 12 provided that the new employees are apprentices.- Enterprise operating in the sector of art products, traditional products and tailor-made wearing apparel: maximum 32 employees including apprentices (not more than 16). The maximum number of employees can be extended to 40 provided that the new employees are apprentices.- Transport enterprise: maximum 8 employees.- Construction enterprise: maximum 10 employees including apprentices (not more than 5). The maximum number of employees can be extended to 14 provided that the new employees are apprentices.

Hard discount

Is a fixed retail outlet that has a medium-large sales area. By means of reduction in costs (personnel, facilities, etc.), it offers a wide range of products, normally "without brand" and for consumers' use, at prices that are much lower than the market average.

Harmonised index of consumer prices

The HICPs are economic indicators constructed to measure the changes over time in the prices of consumer goods and services acquired by households. The HICPs give comparable measures of inflation in the euro-zone, the EU, the European Economic Area and for other countries including accession and candidate countries. They are calculated according to a harmonised approach and a single set of definitions. They provide the official measure of consumer price inflation in the euro-zone for the purposes of monetary policy in the euro area and assessing inflation convergence as required under the Maastricht criteria.

Harvested production

Harvested production means production including on-holding losses and wastage, quantities consumed directly on the farm and marketed quantities, indicated in units of basic product weight.

High Court (Tribunale)

Is subdivided into civil and criminal sections.In civil law, it is a court of first degree and has jurisdiction in cases involving taxes, the state, the capacity of persons, ordinary adoptions, in some cases of electoral disputes as well as legal separations and dissolution of marriages. In the second degree it is a court of appeal against verdicts reached in the first degree by the Magistrate;In criminal law it is competent in the first degree for cases that are not the competence of the Magistrate, the Tribunale per i Minorenni (Juvenile Court) and the Corte d'Assise (Court of Assizes). The new Code has eliminated the Ufficio Istruzione (Office of preliminary investigation) at the Tribunale (High Court) and has created the Ufficio del Giudice per le Indagini Preliminari (Magistrate in Preliminary Hearing). In the provincial capitals also have been created the Tribunali della Libertà (High Courts of Freedom), which have jurisdiction in the re-examination of restrictive measures against persons' freedom and of seizures carried out by the judicial police.The Corte d'Assise (Court of Assizes) is a special section of the Tribunale (High Court) which is responsible for more serious crimes (massacre, terrorism, murder, spying, kidnapping).

Higher Judicial Council (Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura - CSM)

Is established in compliance with art. 104 of the Italian Constitution and is responsible for the self-governing of the Judiciary. It undertakes all the procedures concerning recruitment, transfers, promotions of magistrates. It is chaired by the President of the Republic.

A group of persons living together, tied by marriage, relationship, kinship, adoption, trusteeship or affective reasons, resident in the same commune. Included in the household, as aggregate members, all persons who, under any circumstances, live in co-habitation with the given household (e.g. domestic staff).

A group of persons living together in the same housing unit, tied by marriage, relationship, kinship, adoption, trusteeship or affective reasons.
